About Chase Sapphire Preferred

The default first travel card in America, and in July 2026 it carries its biggest public bonus ever. If you want transferable points without paying a luxury annual fee, this is the card the rest of the market is measured against, and the 2026 refresh added categories without raising the price. The annual fee is $95 and the regular APR runs 19.24% to 27.49% variable, with a 29.99% max. Earning: 5x on Chase Travel, 3x on dining, 3x on gas, EV charging and vacation rentals, 3x on streaming and online groceries, 2x on other travel, 1x elsewhere. The welcome offer is 100,000 points after $5,000 in spending in 3 months, a limited-time elevated offer that TPG reports is ending soon. The refresh doubled the annual Chase Travel hotel credit to $100 and added a complimentary DashPass year plus an Apple TV promo year. The catch: $5,000 in bonus spending is a lot for a $95 card, there is no lounge access, and CNBC flags a negative transfer-partner change in the 2026 overhaul. The 1:1 transfers to partners like Hyatt and United remain the core of the card's value.
