- Monthly fee
- $0 (verified Oct 29, 2026). All rates and fees
Key facts
- APY: 3.20%
- Min. to open: None
- ATM network: Mastercard, Maestro, Cirrus
Pros
- No monthly fee and no minimum balance: the deposit agreement fee schedule lists monthly maintenance at $0.00, and Crew's FAQ says there is no minimum balance to open or maintain an account, per pages read October 29, 2026.
- The advertised 3.2% APY needs no minimum balance or deposit, as Crew's FAQ states through October 31, 2026.
- Crew charges no ATM fee and reimburses ATM operator fees on the first 20 withdrawals per family each year, on the Mastercard, Maestro and Cirrus networks.
Cons
- The 3.2% APY is advertised only through October 31, 2026. The deposit agreement dated June 8, 2026 discloses 2.91% interest and a 2.95% APY, and the bank may change the rate at any time.
- Some transactions cost money: a $20 outgoing domestic wire applies while total Crew deposits are under $50,000, and each cash deposit after the first 12 per family each year costs $3.95, with a $5 minimum per deposit.
- Eligibility is narrow: under section 7 of the deposit agreement, only US citizens or lawful permanent residents aged 18 or older with a US physical address, a valid SSN or tax identification number, and paperless statements can open an account.
- Overdrafts are generally declined under section 19. The bank may pay an item at its discretion, and the customer must then restore a negative balance at once, so the $0.00 overdraft fee does not mean overdraft coverage.

How this rate compares
8.4x

APYs are variable and can change at any time. The FDIC national average is a floor for what an ordinary savings account pays, not a competitor. Named comparisons use each product's last issuer-page check.
What is Crew?
Crew is a digital-only checking account for US citizens and lawful permanent residents, built around budgeting with spending pockets. It has no monthly fee and no minimum balance. Crew describes itself as a financial technology company, not a bank. The deposit accounts are provided by Bangor Savings Bank, Member FDIC, under a deposit agreement dated June 8, 2026.
The rate needs care. Crew's homepage and FAQ advertise a 3.2% APY, footnoted as accurate through October 31, 2026 and variable after account opening, with no minimum balance or deposit required to obtain it (Crew's FAQ, read October 29, 2026). The deposit agreement's Checking Account Disclosures give different figures: an interest rate of 2.91% with an annual percentage yield of 2.95%, which the bank may change at any time at its sole discretion. Crew does not state a separate rate for spending pockets.
Fees are where the account charges money, as stated in the deposit agreement's fee schedule and Crew's FAQ, read October 29, 2026. Monthly maintenance is $0.00, and so are the overdraft and returned payment fees. ACH transfers have no fee. An outgoing domestic wire costs $20 when total deposits in Crew accounts are under $50,000. Cash deposits cost $0 for the first 12 per family each calendar year, then $3.95 each, with a $5 minimum per deposit.
The limits differ by document in one place. Cash deposits are capped at $500 a day, $1,000 a week and $3,000 a month across all deposits. Mobile check deposits are where the two documents disagree: the FAQ says $5,000 a day and $20,000 a month, while section 15.2.6 of the agreement sets $5,000 per deposit and $10,000 daily. ATM withdrawals are limited to $500 a day, $3,000 a week and $5,000 a month.
The Crew debit card works at ATMs on the Mastercard, Maestro and Cirrus networks. Crew charges no ATM fee and reimburses the fees ATM operators charge on the first 20 withdrawals per family each year. Crew says direct deposits work the same as with any other account. Its pages read on October 29, 2026 do not state an early direct deposit feature.
Deposits are insured by the FDIC through Bangor Savings Bank, Member FDIC, up to $250,000 for individual accounts and $500,000 for joint accounts, with pass-through coverage subject to conditions in Crew's terms. Crew's FAQ says banking services are provided by Bangor Savings Bank and Celtic Bank. Its footnotes say the deposit accounts and the Crew Mastercard Debit Card are issued by Bangor Savings Bank, and the Crew Mastercard Credit Card is issued by Celtic Bank. The deposit agreement does not mention Celtic Bank.
Eligibility is narrower than the FAQ wording suggests. Section 7 of the deposit agreement limits accounts to United States citizens or lawful permanent residents of the 50 states or DC who are at least 18, have a US physical address or an APO or FPO address, have a valid social security number or tax identification number, and agree to go paperless. The FAQ says Crew is available to US residents with a physical US address.
The catch: the 3.2% is stated only through October 31, 2026, and the agreement discloses a lower 2.95% APY, so the rate may be lower after that date. Fees can also reduce earnings. Overdrafts are a weak point. Section 19 says the bank generally declines a transaction that would cause a negative balance, but it may pay one at its discretion, and the customer must then restore the balance at once. Skip the account if you need overdraft coverage, if you make more than 12 cash deposits a year, if you send domestic wires while your Crew deposits are under $50,000, or if you are not a US citizen or lawful permanent resident.
