Wire Transfer Fees by Bank in 2026: Chase and 17 More Compared
What Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and 15 others charge to send and receive a wire, the online versus banker split, and how to pay less.
An outgoing domestic wire costs from $0 to $40 across the 18 providers in the table below, read from their own fee schedules on October 27, 2026. Chase charges $25 for a domestic wire sent online and $35 when a banker sends it. An incoming domestic wire costs nothing in 8 of the 12 table rows whose documents print an incoming line.
FinanceRadar data: of the 56 accounts whose fee documents we read on October 27, 2026, 33 charge for an outgoing domestic wire. The median of those 33 is $25, and the median of the 21 accounts with a flat outgoing international fee is $40. Accounts whose documents state no domestic wire fee, such as Fidelity Cash Management Account, are not in those 33. Account-by-account wire lines are in our bank fee dataset, also available as a CSV file, with the fee document behind each line in its sources file.
The table gives each provider's line for each wire type, with the date printed on its document. Axos appears twice, once for its business accounts and once for Axos ONE, so the table has 19 rows for 18 providers. Chase comes first. The other rows are sorted by the outgoing domestic fee, lowest first. Fidelity, Vanguard and Robinhood offer brokerage cash accounts rather than bank accounts. We include them because readers compare them with banks.
Fees as printed in each provider's own fee schedule, checked as of October 27, 2026. Amounts are in U.S. dollars; a bare 0 means the document prints a zero fee. Where a document prints no line, the cell says Not disclosed. Where a document prints no date, the table says so.

Four providers are not in the table. Quontic (High Interest Checking and High Yield Savings), Vio Bank Cornerstone Money Market, TAB Bank High-Yield Savings and E*TRADE Premium Savings are not in the table because their incoming lines are not confirmed in a current fee sheet. The fee study prints their outgoing domestic fees at $25 to $30, with Quontic adding a correspondent charge. UFB Portfolio Savings is also left out. The study lists wire fees for it, but the Axos schedule we read does not name it.
Some providers print no wire line at all. Citi Regular Checking, Citi Accelerate Savings, Truist One Savings, Chime Checking, Chime Savings, Varo Bank Account, Varo Savings, Cash App Savings, Current, OnePay Cash and American Express High Yield Savings print no outgoing wire fee in the fee study's reading. For them the answer is not disclosed, which is not the same as free. Pibank Savings states that it charges no wire fee, though the banks sending or receiving the money may. Apple Card Savings, Barclays Tiered Savings, Betterment Cash Reserve and BMO Alto Online Savings do not offer wires, according to the fee study's reading of their agreements.
How much does Chase charge for a wire transfer?
Chase Total Checking charges $25 for a domestic wire sent on chase.com or in the Chase Mobile app, and $35 when a banker sends it. An international wire in U.S. dollars costs $40 online and $50 with a banker. A wire in a foreign currency sent online costs $5, and the fee is waived for transfers of $5,000 USD or more. Chase Savings prints only banker-assisted rates for both wire types, with no online rate listed. Its domestic wire is $0 when the savings account is linked to a Chase Private Client Checking account.
Both Chase pages print one incoming line, $15 per transfer. The fee is waived when the wire was sent through Chase, with a Chase banker or on chase.com or the Chase Mobile app. The pages carry a 2026 copyright notice but no effective date, so the figures are dated by our read on October 27, 2026. The fee pages are Chase Total Checking's and Chase Savings'. The gap between the two Chase routes is the main lesson of this table: on Total Checking, the banker-assisted route costs more for both wire types.
Which bank has the lowest outgoing domestic wire fee?
Among the 18 providers in the table, Fidelity Cash Management Account has the lowest outgoing domestic line, at $0 per wire request. Its document prints no fee for a domestic bank wire, but its foreign exchange wire carries up to 3% of principal. Grasshopper Bank Small Business Checking and Vanguard Cash Plus both charge $10 per wire. Vanguard's fee is waived for retirement accounts and for clients with at least $1 million in Qualifying Assets.
Among personal checking accounts with a printed domestic line, Schwab Bank Investor Checking is lowest before waivers, at $15 for a wire submitted online, and its other routes cost more. That is below the flat $20 at Ally Interest Checking and Upgrade Rewards Checking Preferred. Capital One 360 Checking and Bank of America Advantage Plus Banking charge $30 for a domestic wire, and Wells Fargo Everyday Checking charges $30 for a digital wire. Axos ONE charges $35, as does BrioDirect's banker-assisted wire. Wells Fargo's $40 branch wire is the highest domestic line in the table.
How much does an international wire cost?
Of the 21 accounts in the study with a flat outgoing international fee, the median is $40 and the range runs from $10 to $50. Grasshopper's business checking charges $25 for an international wire. The four Axos business accounts share the highest flat rate in the table with Chase Savings' banker-assisted wire.
Two accounts show how currency changes the bill. Wells Fargo charges $30 for a digital wire in U.S. dollars and no fee for a digital wire in a foreign currency. EverBank charges $35 for a U.S. dollar wire out without a currency exchange, $30 for a foreign currency wire with an exchange, and $65 for a foreign currency wire without one. Bank of America charges $45 in U.S. dollars and no wire fee in a foreign currency, but its exchange markup applies. Robinhood and Schwab do not offer international wires.
How much does an incoming wire cost?
Of the 12 table rows whose documents print an incoming domestic line, 8 charge nothing. They are Robinhood, Grasshopper, both Axos accounts, Wells Fargo, SoFi, EverBank and Schwab. Four charge for it: Chase, unless the wire was sent through Chase, with a banker or on chase.com or the Chase Mobile app; Bank of America, unless the holder is in a qualifying BofA Rewards tier; BrioDirect at $15; and Ivy Bank at $12. Capital One, Ally, Upgrade, Synchrony and Bread print no incoming line, so the fee is not disclosed, not free.
How to avoid a wire fee
The cheapest route depends on the bank, so start with the table row for your account. Six concrete moves cut the cost in the rows we read:
- Send online, not through a banker. On Chase Total Checking, a banker-assisted wire costs more than an online one in both categories, as the Chase section shows.
- Hold a qualifying tier. Bank of America waives its incoming domestic and international wire fees for BofA Rewards Preferred Plus, Preferred Honors and Premier tiers, and waives its outgoing domestic fee at the Premier tier.
- Pick an account that states no wire fee. Fidelity Cash Management Account prints $0 per wire request for a domestic bank wire, and Pibank Savings states that it charges no wire fee, though the banks sending or receiving the money may.
- Check whether the account has a waiver. Schwab includes three free online wires a quarter once household balances reach $100,000. Vanguard waives its per-wire fee for retirement accounts and for clients with at least $1 million in Qualifying Assets. Axos Basic Business Checking reimburses two outgoing domestic wire fees a month.
- Pick the currency with care. Wells Fargo's digital wire in a foreign currency has no fee, while the same wire in U.S. dollars costs $30. EverBank's foreign currency wire is cheaper with an exchange than without one.
- Ask about the receiving side. Eight of the 12 table rows with a printed incoming line charge nothing to receive a wire, so a payment you are owed may cost you nothing to accept.
Some transfers do not need a wire at all. ACH transfers are the usual alternative, and the how to transfer money between banks guide compares the routes. We did not read an ACH line for every bank in this table, so whether an ACH transfer is free depends on the bank's own schedule, which you should check before you send money.
How we compared
We read each provider's own fee schedule, account agreement or fee page, and recorded each wire line as printed, with its condition and any date on the document. Every row in the table was read again for this page, except Ally Online Savings, whose $20 outgoing fee comes from the fee study read the same day. Some schedules are PDFs, and their lines come from the printed text. "Not disclosed" means the document we read prints no line for that wire type. It does not mean the wire is free. SoFi's one fee sheet is listed under two account names in the study, so it counts twice in the 33; the table shows it once. We did not send a wire or open an account at any provider.
