Best no foreign transaction fee credit cards in 2026

A waived annual fee does not waive the charge on a purchase abroad. These cards were kept only when the issuer stated a zero foreign transaction fee, and the no-annual-fee options come first.

Rates and fees in this guide were read on September 23, 2026. They change without notice, so open the product page linked in each pick for the current figure and the date it was read.

TL;DR

Short answer, verified on issuer pages on September 23, 2026: Wells Fargo Autograph charges no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee, and travel earns 3X points, including airlines, hotels, and rental cars. Capital One Quicksilver is the flat-rate version, at 1.5% cash back on every purchase, with the same lack of an annual fee. Chase Sapphire Preferred adds United and Southwest transfers for a $95 annual fee. A no-annual-fee card can still fail this test: Wells Fargo Active Cash adds 3% on each foreign purchase converted to U.S. dollars.

FinanceRadar data: of the 67 credit cards we verify, 36 charge no annual fee (54%), and the average annual fee is $142 (fees checked September to October 2026; we have logged 1,053 dated checks since August 2026).

A zero annual fee and a zero foreign transaction fee are different lines on the pricing sheet. Wells Fargo Autograph clears both, and it pays the travel multiplier in the table on the purchases a trip actually generates. That suits someone who will not take on an annual fee and who books airlines, hotels, or rental cars. Capital One Quicksilver clears both as well, at the flat rate in the table, so a shop that codes oddly still earns the same rate. Chase Sapphire Preferred clears the foreign fee and charges an annual fee in return for transfers to United and Southwest. The Bilt Blue Card review covers another card that charges neither fee, with a 26.74% to 34.74% APR after its intro period.

Wells Fargo Active Cash shows why the annual fee is the wrong filter. It charges no annual fee and pays unlimited cash rewards, then adds a foreign fee when a purchase is converted to U.S. dollars, and that fee is larger than the reward. The wider trip, including cards chosen for lounges rather than the foreign fee, is best travel credit cards. The published set is the credit card directory.

Trips abroad when you will not pay an annual fee.

+Travel earns the unlimited multiplier in the table, and Wells Fargo counts airlines, hotels, rental cars, cruises, agencies, discount sites, and campgrounds. An online agency booking still qualifies, so you do not have to book direct to keep the rate.
+Restaurants, gas and EV charging, transit, streaming, and phone plans earn that same multiplier, then 1X on other purchases, and the card page states no cap.
+Wells Fargo waives both the annual fee and the foreign transaction fee. Purchases get a 0% intro APR for 12 months from the day the account opens, and the variable rate afterward is 18.74%, 24.74%, or 28.74%. Paying the trip off inside that year is what keeps the card cheap.
−Wells Fargo lets you transfer points in any amount and does not name the airline or hotel partners on the card page, so a specific program is not a promise you can read before you apply. Preferred is the card that names United and Southwest.
−You may not get the intro APR or the bonus in the table if you opened this card in the last 48 months, even if that account is closed, and a new Wells Fargo consumer card may be unavailable if you opened another one in the last 4 months.

Foreign spend that may not code as travel or dining.

+Every purchase earns the flat cash-back rate in the table, with no category to hit, and rewards do not expire for the life of the account. You can redeem any amount as a statement credit, a check, or against a recent purchase. A foreign shop that codes oddly still pays that rate, which is why this card sits beside Autograph.
+Hotels, rental cars, vacation rentals, and activities booked through Capital One Travel earn 5% instead of the base rate. That portal rate does not apply to a ticket you buy from the airline, so the airfare itself stays at the flat rate.
+The published bonus is the one in the table. Purchases and balance transfers sit at a 0% intro APR for 15 months, and the variable rate after that is 19.24%, 25.24%, or 29.24%. The intro outlasts Autograph's, which matters only if the trip becomes a balance.
−The flat rate trails Autograph when the merchant codes as travel or dining, and it trails Savor when the spend is food. Use this card for the purchases those categories will miss, not for the dinner you already know will code.
−Existing or previous cardmembers are not eligible for this bonus if they received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past 48 months.

Meals and groceries on a trip, not the airfare.

+Grocery stores, dining, entertainment, and popular streaming earn the unlimited cash-back rate in the table. Dining includes restaurants, cafes, bars, and fast food, and grocery excludes superstores such as Walmart and Target.
+Hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel earn 5%, and everything else earns 1%, including a flight you buy from the airline, so the ticket belongs on a different card.
+The annual fee is waived, and so is the foreign transaction fee. The bonus matches Quicksilver's, and an intro APR lasts 12 months on purchases and balance transfers, then 18.49% to 28.49% variable. That intro is shorter than Quicksilver's, so a long payoff belongs on Quicksilver instead.
−Capital One says some hotel restaurants, grocery-store food counters, and food carts may not code as dining, and a purchase through a digital wallet may miss the higher rate depending on how it is processed.
−Entertainment excludes golf courses and collegiate sporting events, and some streaming services are excluded, so a resort activity can miss the rate you counted on.

Miles without an annual fee, if 1.25X is enough.

+Every purchase earns unlimited 1.25 miles per dollar, and hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel earn the higher portal rate. Miles do not expire for the life of the account.
+The bonus is 20,000 miles after Quicksilver's spend hurdle, inside the opening window in the table. Purchases and balance transfers get a 0% intro APR for 15 months, then 18.49% to 28.49% variable, and a balance transfer fee applies.
+Capital One lists no annual fee on VentureOne and waives the foreign transaction fee. You can book through Capital One Travel or redeem miles as a statement credit toward a travel purchase made elsewhere.
−A statement-credit redemption has to be made within 90 days from the date the travel purchase posts, so miles you meant to use as cash against an older fare can miss the window.
−You are not eligible for the bonus if you received a new cardmember bonus for VentureOne, Venture, or Venture X in the past 48 months, which is a wider block than Quicksilver's.

Travelers who want airline transfers and will clear the fee.

+Points transfer to United MileagePlus, Southwest Rapid Rewards, JetBlue TrueBlue, Air Canada Aeroplan, British Airways, Flying Blue, and four more airlines, plus IHG, Marriott, World of Hyatt, and Wyndham. That named list is the reason to pay the annual fee instead of holding Autograph.
+Dining earns more than other travel, and Chase Travel earns 5x, so a flight on the airline's site is the lower travel rate and a restaurant abroad is the higher one.
+There is no foreign transaction fee. Chase's page says spending $5,000 internationally would avoid $150. The public bonus is the one in the table, and the purchase APR is 19.24% to 27.49% variable. There is no intro purchase APR, so a revolved hotel starts accruing interest immediately.
−The annual fee is charged from year one. The $100 Chase Travel hotel credit applies only to hotel stays booked through Chase Travel, and those first hotel purchases in the anniversary year earn no points. A hotel you book on the hotel's site does not use the credit.
−Chase will not open another Preferred while you already hold one, and the new-cardmember bonus can be blocked if you previously held this card or received its bonus.

Tickets and meals abroad when you want American miles.

+Air travel and other hotel purchases earn the travel multiplier, and so do restaurants, supermarkets, and gas and EV charging. Other purchases earn 1X, with no cap stated on the card page. A ticket on the airline's own site keeps that multiplier, which is the reason to pick this card over a portal-only bonus.
+Hotels, car rentals, and attractions booked on cititravel.com earn 10X, which does not apply to a hotel you book on the hotel's own site. That direct hotel stay stays at the air-travel multiplier.
+ThankYou points transfer to American Airlines, JetBlue, Virgin Atlantic, Cathay, and Eva Air, plus Choice Hotels and The Leading Hotels of the World, once you hold at least 1,000 points. Citi's pricing says the fee for foreign purchases is none. American is the partner Preferred does not list.
−Citi's FAQ says bonus offers change, and the public card page publishes no fixed point total, so the offer on the application is the one that counts.
−The new-account bonus is unavailable if you have or had a Citi Strata Premier or Citi Premier account, which catches people coming from the older Premier card.

Everyday foreign spend that should become miles.

+Every purchase earns the unlimited flat miles rate in the table, with no category. Hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel earn the higher portal rate, and a flight on the airline site stays at the flat rate.
+The published bonus is the one in the table, which Capital One describes as more than $1,000 in travel value. The purchase APR is 19.49% to 28.49% variable. There is no intro purchase APR, so the miles are not a reason to carry the hotel.
+Hotel and vacation rental bookings inside Capital One Travel can draw a one-time $300 credit during the first cardholder year. It expires one year after account opening, earns no rewards, and does not pay a flight you buy from the airline.
−You are not eligible for the bonus if you received a new cardmember bonus for Venture or Venture X inside the wider window VentureOne already describes. A recent Venture X bonus blocks this offer.
−The first-year stays credit works only inside Capital One Travel, so a hotel booked direct does not use it, and neither does airfare on the airline site. The credit is not a discount on the ticket.

Dining abroad when U.S. credits will still offset the fee at home.

+Restaurants worldwide earn 4X Membership Rewards points on up to $50,000 in purchases per calendar year, then the base rate. Flights booked with the airline or through Amex Travel earn more than other purchases and less than restaurants. A dinner abroad is the purchase this card is for.
+U.S. supermarkets earn that same restaurant rate on up to $25,000 per calendar year, then the base rate, so a grocery store outside the United States does not get it. Other eligible purchases earn the base rate.
+American Express will not charge a foreign transaction fee on purchases outside the United States. The terms page offers 60,000 points after $6,000 in the first 6 months, and Amex says offers may vary.
−The annual fee is $325. Uber Cash is $10 a month and may be used only in the United States, Dunkin is up to $7 a month at U.S. locations, and the Resy and dining credits require enrollment and are U.S. restaurant benefits. None of those credits pays a dinner in another country.
−You may not be eligible for a welcome offer if you have or have had this card, the Premier Rewards Gold Card, or a consumer Platinum card, and Amex will tell you before processing the application if the offer is unavailable.

Travelers who will use the Capital One Travel credit and a lounge.

+Flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel earn 5X, hotels and rental cars booked there earn 10X, and every other purchase earns the flat miles rate Venture already pays, including a ticket on the airline site.
+Capital One's travel-card page, dated March 24, 2026, lists 75,000 bonus miles after the same spend hurdle as Venture, a $300 annual Capital One Travel credit, and 10,000 bonus miles each year starting on the first anniversary.
+There is no foreign transaction fee. The purchase APR matches the variable band Venture publishes. Primary cardholders can use Capital One Lounges and, after enrollment, Priority Pass, which Capital One counts at 1,300 or more lounges.
−The annual credit expires on the next account anniversary, earns no rewards, and applies only to Capital One Travel purchases, so a flight bought on the airline site does not spend it.
−The flight bonus is the portal rate. A ticket on the airline site earns the flat rate Venture already pays at a lower annual fee, which makes this card the lounge and the credit. Do not buy it only to avoid a foreign fee.

What a foreign transaction fee is

A foreign transaction fee is an issuer charge on a purchase made abroad or with a foreign merchant. Capital One's own explainer, dated April 23, 2026, puts the usual floor at about 1% of the purchase after it is converted to U.S. dollars. The top of that usual range is the foreign fee Active Cash still prints, which is why a no-annual-fee card can lose. The same explainer says none of Capital One's U.S.-issued credit cards add that charge. That is why every Capital One card in this ranking cleared the filter.

The fee you can still pay, after the issuer waives its own, is the one at the terminal. That same Capital One page separates a dynamic currency conversion fee, often running from Active Cash's foreign fee up to 12%, which a merchant adds when the terminal offers to bill you in U.S. dollars. American Express says it will not charge a foreign transaction fee on purchases outside the United States. It also says an ATM or a merchant may still add one. Chase's Sapphire Preferred page illustrates the issuer piece with a number: spending $5,000 internationally would avoid $150.

Network conversion is not the same thing as that issuer percentage. Paying in the local currency lets Visa or Mastercard do the conversion, which is the path these cards are built for. Accepting the terminal's dollar price can add the merchant's conversion on top of a card that already charges nothing.

A foreign fee can erase a no-annual-fee reward

On the credit card statistics page, published annual fees run from no annual fee to $895, and the average is $200, as of September 23, 2026. That average mixes no-fee cards with premium travel cards, so it does not tell you what a trip costs. The line that changes a foreign purchase is the foreign transaction fee, and two popular no-annual-fee cards still print one. For the full fee comparison, including annual, late, cash advance and returned payment fees on seven cards, see credit card fees compared.

Active Cash's foreign fee is larger than its cash-back reward, and Citi Double Cash prints the same fee. Wells Fargo's Active Cash FAQ says the fee hits each foreign transaction amount converted to U.S. dollars, on a card with no annual fee, unlimited 2% cash rewards, and a $100 bonus in the first 3 months. Citi Double Cash lists no annual fee and that same foreign fee, applied to the U.S. dollar amount of each purchase. A card from the no-annual-fee guide can still be the expensive one once the purchase is abroad.

How we ranked: on September 23, 2026 I read the issuer card pages for Autograph, Quicksilver, Savor, VentureOne, Venture, Venture X, Sapphire Preferred, and Strata Premier. I also read the American Express Gold terms, Wells Fargo's Active Cash FAQ, and Citi's Double Cash pricing. I kept a card only when that issuer stated no foreign transaction fee. I ordered the nine by the rate on a purchase made abroad, then by the annual fee, and no one paid for a slot. This is general information, not personalized financial advice, and a commission on some links does not change the order (how we make money).

What to look for

A stated zero, not a missing lineEssential

Autograph, every Capital One card in this ranking, Sapphire Preferred, Strata Premier, and the Amex Gold Card each say there is no foreign transaction fee. Active Cash and Double Cash state a foreign fee, which is why a no-annual-fee filter is not this list.

The rate on a purchase that is not a portal bookingEssential

Autograph's travel multiplier covers airlines, hotels, rental cars, and discount travel sites, with no cap stated. Quicksilver's flat rate does not depend on the merchant code. Venture X's 5X flights and Strata Premier's 10X hotels apply inside a travel portal, not on the airline or hotel site.

Whether the annual fee comes back on the tripEssential

Autograph, Quicksilver, Savor, and VentureOne charge no annual fee, so a single trip does not have to earn a fee back. Preferred, Strata Premier, and Venture charge an annual fee from year one. Gold and Venture X charge a premium fee whose credits do not apply to a purchase made abroad.

Whether the bonus is printed before you applyEssential

Autograph, Quicksilver, Savor, VentureOne, Preferred, Venture, Venture X, and the Gold terms page each print a bonus and a spend hurdle. Strata Premier's public page does not. Capital One and Wells Fargo can withhold a bonus if you took one on that product inside a stated window.

An intro APR if the trip becomes a balance

Autograph's intro APR on purchases runs for the first year from account opening. Quicksilver and VentureOne extend an intro APR to 15 months on purchases and balance transfers. Preferred, Strata Premier, Venture, Venture X, and Gold publish no intro purchase APR.

Where the credits actually work

Gold's Uber Cash, Dunkin credit, Resy credit, and dining credit are U.S. benefits and need enrollment. Venture's first-year stays credit and Venture X's annual travel credit work only inside Capital One Travel. A restaurant bill in another country does not spend those credits.

The purchase APR after any intro ends

Every card here has a variable purchase APR in the high teens to the high twenties once any intro is over. Gold's Pay Over Time APR on the terms page is dated April 24, 2026. A carried hotel bill costs more than a year of the foreign-fee waiver.

Before you apply

If the trip is the reason for the card and you will not pay an annual fee, start with Autograph, because airlines, hotels, rental cars, restaurants, gas, and transit earn the travel multiplier and Wells Fargo states no cap.

If the merchant might not code as travel or dining, Quicksilver's flat rate does not depend on the code, and Savor's dining rate does. Capital One says some hotel restaurants and food carts do not count as dining.

If you want miles without an annual fee, VentureOne earns less on every purchase than Quicksilver's flat rate, and the statement-credit window is 90 days after the travel purchase posts.

If United, Southwest, or JetBlue is the airline, Preferred's transfer list is the reason to pay its annual fee. A ticket on the airline's site earns the lower travel rate, and the higher rate applies on Chase Travel.

If the ticket is on American, Strata Premier is the fit, and you have to read the bonus on the application because Citi does not print a fixed public offer. Preferred does not list American as a transfer partner.

If grocery, transit, and shops abroad should earn the travel rate too, Venture's flat miles on every purchase beat a card that drops to the base rate off category. The first-year hotel credit does not pay the airfare.

If dining abroad is the spend and you will use credits at home, Gold's restaurant rate worldwide is the earn, and Uber Cash or Dunkin will not offset the annual fee on the trip. For a lounge, use the travel card guide and price Venture X's portal credit before the foreign fee.

Evaluation Checklist

Read the issuer's foreign-transaction line, not the annual-fee line. Active Cash and Double Cash charge no annual fee and still add a foreign fee on a purchase abroad, so the reward can come out smaller than the charge.

For a ticket and a hotel you will book yourself, compare Autograph and Strata Premier with Venture X's portal flight rate, and with Preferred's rate outside Chase Travel. The portal rate disappears on the airline's own site.

On Savor, assume a hotel restaurant or a wallet payment might earn the base rate until the charge posts, because Capital One says merchant codes decide and some food sellers do not count as dining.

On Gold, list which credits you will use inside the United States. Uber Cash, Dunkin, Resy, and the dining credit do not pay a restaurant bill in another country, so the annual fee has to be earned at home.

Read the welcome offer on the application. Strata Premier publishes no fixed bonus, Gold's offers vary, and Capital One can withhold a bonus if you took one on that product inside the window printed on the page.

If you might revolve the trip, compare the purchase APR with the miles. Autograph, Quicksilver, Savor, and VentureOne publish an intro purchase APR, and the other five picks here do not.

At the terminal, decline a prompt to pay in U.S. dollars. Capital One describes that dynamic conversion as a merchant fee, often up to 12%, separate from the issuer fee these cards waive.

Issuer card pages and pricing details, September 23, 2026. Capital One's foreign-fee explainer is dated April 23, 2026. The Amex Gold APR on the terms page is dated April 24, 2026. Citi publishes no fixed public bonus for Strata Premier. Active Cash and Citi Double Cash charge a foreign fee and are not rows in this table.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • ×

Taking Active Cash or Double Cash on a trip because the annual fee is none, then paying a foreign fee on those purchases while Quicksilver would have cost less on the same charges.

  • ×

Paying for Venture X to avoid a foreign fee that Autograph, Quicksilver, Savor, and VentureOne already waive without an annual fee.

  • ×

Counting Savor's dining rate on a flight or on a hotel booked direct, when those earn the base rate and the higher portal rate is Capital One Travel hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars.

  • ×

Accepting the terminal's offer to charge U.S. dollars, which can add a merchant conversion of up to 12% on top of a card that charges the issuer nothing.

  • ×

Assuming Autograph's transfer partners match Preferred's list, when Wells Fargo does not name the programs on the card page and you see them only inside the transfer flow.

  • ×

Carrying the hotel on a rewards card because the points feel larger than the interest, when the purchase APR after any intro sits in the high teens to the high twenties.

  • ×

Holding Citi Premier already, then applying for Strata Premier and expecting a bonus, is a miss, because Citi blocks that new-account bonus for anyone who has or had either card.

Tips

  • →

Pair Autograph with Quicksilver if some foreign shops will not code as travel or dining, because the flat rate covers the purchases the travel multiplier will miss, and neither card charges an annual fee.

  • →

Book the flight and the hotel in the local currency, then use a card from this list. The issuer fee is the part these cards remove, and the merchant conversion is the part you still have to refuse.

  • →

If American is the airline, Strata Premier's rate on air travel you book yourself is the cleaner earn, and Preferred does not list American as a transfer partner.

  • →

Venture's flat miles on non-travel spend are the reason to hold it beside a card that earns more on the fare, because the fare rate alone does not beat Strata Premier or Autograph.

  • →

On Gold, the 4X restaurant rate is worldwide up to the calendar-year cap, and the supermarket rate is United States only, so a foreign grocery run earns the base rate.

  • →

Venture X's anniversary miles and the annual portal credit are what offset the annual fee, and they do not offset it if you never book inside Capital One Travel.

  • →

Approval odds are off this page because these issuers do not print a score cutoff on the card pages used here, so see credit cards by credit score when approval is the open question.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • !

A no-annual-fee card described as free to use abroad, when Active Cash adds a foreign fee on a foreign amount converted to U.S. dollars and that fee is larger than its 2% reward.

  • !

A portal airfare rate assumed on a ticket bought at the airline, when Venture X's flight bonus and Strata Premier's 10X hotels apply inside the issuer's travel portal.

  • !

Gold's Uber, Dunkin, Resy, or dining credits counted against a foreign restaurant bill, when those benefits are U.S. only and the dining and Dunkin credits need enrollment.

  • !

A Venture or Venture X travel credit counted against airfare you buy from the airline, when both credits are Capital One Travel credits and they earn no rewards.

  • !

A Strata Premier bonus treated as guaranteed, when Citi says offers change and the public page does not print a fixed total.

  • !

Dynamic currency conversion treated as the issuer's foreign fee, when Capital One describes it as a merchant charge that can still apply on a card with no foreign transaction fee.

The Bottom Line

For a purchase abroad in 2026, start with whether the issuer charges a foreign transaction fee, then the annual fee. Wells Fargo Autograph is the default when you will not pay an annual fee, because travel, dining, and transit earn the multiplier in the table and the foreign fee is none. Capital One Quicksilver is the flat-rate version of that same pair of zeros. Savor is the food version when the spend is meals and groceries.

Chase Sapphire Preferred and Citi Strata Premier are the modest-fee cards when you want United, Southwest, or American transfers. Capital One Venture earns its flat miles rate on the purchases that fall outside a category. The Gold Card earns the restaurant rate worldwide and charges a premium fee whose credits are mostly valid in the United States. Venture X is a lounge card that also waives the foreign fee, and the waiver is not why the annual fee exists. Active Cash and Double Cash still charge a foreign fee. These ranks follow published card terms, and they are general information, not personalized financial advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best no foreign transaction fee credit card in 2026?

Wells Fargo Autograph is the best fit if you want no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. Travel earns the multiplier in the table, including airlines, hotels, and rental cars, and the bonus is 20,000 points after $1,000 inside the opening window in the table. Capital One Quicksilver is the better card when every purchase should earn the same flat rate, with no category codes to miss. Chase Sapphire Preferred fits travelers who will pay its annual fee for transfers to United, Southwest, and JetBlue. All three state no foreign transaction fee on the issuer pages checked on September 23, 2026.

How much does a no foreign transaction fee credit card cost in 2026?

Autograph, Quicksilver, Savor, and VentureOne charge no annual fee. Chase Sapphire Preferred, Citi Strata Premier, and Capital One Venture each list an annual fee of $95. The American Express Gold Card charges $325, and Capital One Venture X charges $395. The dollar amounts are the ones printed on the issuer pages checked for this guide. A carried balance uses a variable purchase APR in the high teens to the high twenties after any intro period, and a merchant can still add a conversion fee at the terminal.

Is there a free credit card with no foreign transaction fee?

Yes. Wells Fargo Autograph, Capital One Quicksilver, Capital One Savor, and Capital One VentureOne each charge no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. Autograph pays the travel and dining multiplier in the table. Quicksilver pays 1.5% on every purchase and adds the $200 bonus in the table, plus a 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases. Savor pays the dining and grocery rate in the table. VentureOne pays 1.25X miles. None of these is free if you revolve a balance, because the intro APR ends and the variable rate takes over.

Do no-annual-fee cards still charge a foreign transaction fee?

Some do. Wells Fargo Active Cash charges no annual fee, pays unlimited 2% cash rewards, and adds 3% on each foreign transaction amount converted to U.S. dollars, so the fee is larger than the reward. Citi Double Cash also charges no annual fee and lists that same foreign fee. Capital One's April 23, 2026 explainer says Capital One does not charge one on its U.S.-issued cards, which is the filter the Capital One rows already passed.

What is a foreign transaction fee, and is it the same as currency conversion?

A foreign transaction fee is the issuer's charge on a purchase made abroad or with a foreign merchant. Dynamic currency conversion is separate: the merchant offers to bill you in U.S. dollars, and that fee can reach 12%. American Express charges no foreign transaction fee on purchases outside the United States and still warns that an ATM or merchant may add its own fee. Chase's Sapphire Preferred page says spending $5,000 internationally would avoid $150 of the issuer fee. Refuse the terminal's dollar price if you want the waiver to be the whole story.

Does the Amex Gold Card waive foreign transaction fees?

Yes. American Express says it will not charge a foreign transaction fee on purchases you make outside the United States with the Gold Card. Restaurants worldwide earn 4X points on up to $50,000 in a calendar year, and flights booked with the airline earn more than other purchases but less than restaurants. The annual fee is $325, the terms-page offer is 60,000 points after $6,000 in the first 6 months, and the Uber, Dunkin, Resy, and dining credits are U.S. benefits. A foreign supermarket does not earn the supermarket rate, which is limited to U.S. supermarkets.

Does Capital One charge a foreign transaction fee?

No. Capital One's April 23, 2026 explainer says none of its U.S.-issued credit cards charge a foreign transaction fee, and the Quicksilver, Savor, VentureOne, Venture, and Venture X pages each repeat that. Quicksilver and Savor charge no annual fee. Venture and Venture X charge annual fees, and Venture X's higher flight rate applies on Capital One Travel rather than on the airline's site. A merchant can still add dynamic currency conversion if you accept a charge in U.S. dollars at the terminal.
