Bask Bank Review 2026: Savings APY, Miles and CD Rates

Bask Interest Savings pays a variable APY, Mileage Savings earns AAdvantage miles instead of interest, and CDs carry an opening minimum.

Bask Bank's Interest Savings account pays 3.90% APY, and its Mileage Savings account earns 1.75 American Airlines AAdvantage miles for every $1 saved annually instead of interest. Both figures are on Bask's rate and fee schedule, effective September 23, 2026. Bask Bank is a division of Texas Capital Bank, Member FDIC.

Financeradar data: the average APY across the 50 high-yield savings accounts with a published rate in the Financeradar catalog is 3.21% as of October 25, 2026, so Bask's variable rate sits above that average today. The figure comes from the statistics page, and it moves when accounts are added or removed.

Interest Savings: the rate is the weak point

The 3.82% interest rate compounds into the APY above, both effective September 23, 2026. The product page prints no monthly account fee and no minimum balance requirement, so the account is simple to hold. The trade-off is the rate itself, which has come down since 2024.

Here is how the base rate has moved. Each row gives the rate and the date printed beside it, or says that none is printed.

  • The April 4, 2023 capture of the savings page prints "Rates as of Monday, April 03, 2023: 4.45%."
  • A View from the Wing post by Gary Leff, dated April 27, 2023 by its byline, records an October 18, 2023 update to 5.10% APY.
  • The June 4, 2024 capture of the savings page prints "Earn 5.10% APY" with no date beside the rate. The only date in that capture, May 20, 2024, belongs to its FDIC national-average footnote.
  • The April 21, 2026 capture of the savings page prints 3.75% APY plus a 0.25% APY Rate Boost, "for up to 4.00% APY."

The current base APY is 1.20 points below the 2024 figure, so the 5.10% number belongs to the past.

Mileage Savings: miles in place of interest

Mileage Savings earns 1.75 AAdvantage miles for each $1 saved annually and pays no interest, according to the rate schedule. The schedule's footnote describes the miles rate as "subject to change at Bask Bank's sole discretion," and American Airlines can also change its program terms.

At the printed rate, a $10,000 balance held for a full year earns 17,500 miles.

The calculator on the mileage page defaults to $100,000 with no recurring deposit. A line beside it reads 250,000 miles over 12 months. That is 2.5 miles per dollar, which does not match the printed rate of 1.75 miles per $1 saved annually. At 1.75, $100,000 earns 175,000 miles over 12 months, so the printed rate is the figure to use.

The account can also close if it sits unfunded. The schedule's first footnote says that if an account remains unfunded for 15 business days, Bask reserves the right to close it.

Certificates of deposit

Bask's CDs open with a $1,000 minimum deposit. The rate schedule says a penalty "may be imposed for early withdrawal and may reduce earnings."

9 months4.11%4.20%
12 months4.26%4.35%
18 months3.92%4.00%
24 months4.21%4.30%

Bask's rate schedule, effective September 23, 2026, lists the six CD terms and the savings and mileage rates in this section.

The 12-month term pays the highest APY in this table at 4.35%, and it ties up money for a year. The 3-month term pays 4.10% APY and returns the cash sooner.

Fees

The rate schedule prints $0 for monthly account fees, paid overdraft fees, returned NSF items, stop payments and incoming wires on the savings and mileage accounts. International wires cost $35 online or $50 manual. Account research costs $35 an hour, legal processing costs $125 an hour, and statement copies are free.

Deposit insurance

The product pages say "FDIC Insured." The mileage page's footnote says: "The sum of your deposits with Bask Bank and Texas Capital Bank is insured to at least $250,000 per depositor for each account ownership category." The homepage footer reads "Texas Capital Bank is a member of FDIC," and the rate schedule reads "Bask Bank is a division of Texas Capital Bank. Member FDIC."

Because the coverage is combined, an existing Texas Capital balance counts toward the same deposit insurance, which Bask's footnote puts at at least $250,000 per depositor for each account ownership category.

Promotions for new customers

Two offers sit on top of the base rates. Both are promotional and carry qualification rules.

  • Interest Savings boost: a 0.40% APY Rate Boost, for a total of 4.30% APY, and up to $300 in cash bonuses for a new customer who opens both an Interest Savings and an Interest Checking account between October 1 and December 31, 2026. Both accounts must stay open, active and in good standing. The reward period runs for up to six consecutive statement periods after opening. New applications are subject to approval. The 4.30% figure is on the Interest Savings page and the terms are on the promotions page.
  • Mileage bonus: 20,000 AAdvantage bonus miles for a first-time Mileage Savings customer who opens between September 1 and November 30, 2026, funds the account within 15 business days, and keeps a $50,000 minimum daily balance for 90 consecutive days within its first 120 days after opening. The mileage page prints November 31 in one of its two copies of this offer, and the promotions page prints November 30. Source: promotions page.

What account holders report

Bask Bank Mobile, published by Texas Capital Bank, is rated 4.7 on the U.S. App Store, with 3.3K ratings on the listing (3,308 in its structured data). Of the 50 most recent reviews in the feed, eight carry one to three stars, and two describe frozen or restricted accounts.

On the App Store listing, a two-star review dated September 5, 2026 says, "They froze my accounts and wouldn't explain why after several inquiries so I can't rate them very high." A one-star review dated September 16, 2026 says, "3.75% on savings is wrong!" That review gives no account detail, so treat it as one user's claim. A four-star review dated October 2, 2026 says, "Good APR. Better than big banks like Chase."

Who should open it and who should skip

  • Open Interest Savings if you want a variable APY with no minimum balance and no monthly fee, and you can accept a base rate that has fallen since 2024. It fits savers who park a reserve they can leave alone.
  • Think twice if account access matters more to you than the rate. Two of the 50 most recent App Store reviews describe frozen or restricted accounts, which is a serious issue for money you may need quickly.
  • Mileage Savings suits someone who already collects AAdvantage miles and would keep the cash anyway. It pays no interest, so the miles need to be worth more to you than the interest the Interest Savings account pays.
  • CDs suit a sum you will not touch for the full term, with the opening minimum as the entry cost.

Bottom line

Interest Savings is the account to consider first if you want a variable APY with no minimum and no monthly fee. The rate has fallen since 2024, the miles account pays no interest, and the frozen-account reports deserve a look before you move a large balance. Confirm the terms with Bask Bank before you open an account, since rates and promotions can change.
