Best no-fee, no-minimum high-yield savings accounts

The HYSA list after we throw out every account that charges you, gates the rate, or needs a pile of cash to open.

TL;DR

Of FinanceRadar's 21 published high-yield savings accounts (average APY about 3.56%), most fail a simple test: $0 monthly fee, $0 to open, and no balance floor on the rate we quote. This guide is the ones that pass. Pibank Savings is the highest $0 / $0 print we confirmed, at 4.10%. Forbright Growth Savings now qualifies at 3.85% with no minimums; the old $1,000 promo floor is gone. Zynlo Money Market and EverBank Performance Savings sit at 3.90%. Marcus Online Savings is the honest default at 3.40%. Ally Online Savings, American Express High Yield Savings, and Capital One 360 Performance Savings are the 3.00% floor. CIT, BrioDirect, LendingClub, Robinhood, and Vio still do not belong here.

FinanceRadar's catalog holds 21 published high-yield savings accounts at an average APY of about 3.56%. Three of them print 4.00% or more. This guide ignores most of that leaderboard on purpose. We only kept accounts with a $0 monthly fee, a $0 minimum deposit, and no balance floor on the rate we quote. The full 21-account table is still the source of the numbers. The flagship HYSA guide is where the remaining 4% catches live. This page is the "best free" version of that story.

That filter knocks out names people will expect to see. CIT Bank Platinum Savings is 3.75% only at $5,000 and up; under that it pays 0.25%. BrioDirect High-Yield Savings needs $5,000 to open. LendingClub LevelUp Savings is $0 / $0, but 4.00% is a habit, not a rate: skip the $250 monthly deposit and you earn 3.00%. Robinhood Gold Cash Sweep is $5 a month. Vio Bank Cornerstone Money Market is $5 a month. Those are not free accounts. Forbright Growth Savings used to fail this filter on a $1,000 promo floor. As of September 6, 2026 the live page is 3.85% with no minimums, so it is in.

What is left is a shorter, calmer list. Marcus Online Savings at 3.40% is the one I would open if I wanted to stop thinking about it. Forbright Growth Savings at 3.85% is the highest clean conventional-bank print. Pibank Savings at 4.10% is the yield pick if you will live with a tiny brand. The rest of the 3.00% club (Ally Online Savings, American Express High Yield Savings, Capital One 360 Performance Savings) is here because clean and usable still beats a habit you will miss. The savings directory and the catch report have the accounts we refused to pick.

Marcus Online Savings

Top Pick
4.9App Store(262,224)

Anyone who wants a no-fee, no-minimum HYSA and does not want to re-read a rate page every month.

+3.40% APY with no promo expiry, balance floor, or deposit habit on file.
+$0 to open, $0 monthly fee.
+Highest clean big-brand print in this filter.
50 basis points behind Zynlo's 3.90%. On $10,000 that is about $50 a year.
70 basis points behind Pibank's 4.10%, if that 4.10% is the live number the day you apply.

People who want the yield without a promo, a habit, or a brand they already have on a card.

+3.90% APY, above the 3.59% catalog average.
+$0 minimum deposit, $0 monthly fee, no catch on file.
+Listed in our catalog as a savings-account kind, even though the product name says money market.
Thinner brand recognition than Marcus, Ally, or Amex.
A money-market label can mean check-writing at some banks; confirm what you are opening.
3
Forbright Growth Savings logo

Forbright Growth Savings

4.8App Store(2,320)

People who want a conventional-bank rate without a minimum or a habit.

+3.85% APY as of September 6, 2026, per Forbright's own page.
+No fees and no minimum deposits on the current disclosure.
+Direct bank FDIC coverage.
Still below Pibank's confirmed 4.10%.
Savings-only shop. No ATM, no checking.
4
EverBank Performance Savings logo

EverBank Performance Savings

4.8App Store(16,724)

New customers who will ask what the ongoing rate is, not just what the ad says.

+3.90% APY with a $0 minimum deposit and $0 monthly fee.
+No balance floor and no monthly deposit rule in our notes.
+Matches Zynlo on yield if the 3.90% is actually yours.
Advertised APY may apply to new accounts only.
If you are an existing customer, this pick may not be your rate.
5
Pibank Savings logo

Pibank Savings

2.1App Store(204)

People who will open Pibank's own rate page the day they apply and walk away if the number does not match.

+Highest APY in this filter at 4.10%.
+$0 minimum deposit, $0 monthly fee, no balance floor in our notes.
+If 4.10% is the live number, it beats every clean account on this page.
Rate verification is messy. The site title has shown 4.40%; we use 4.10%.
Until that is resolved, the chart number is not something I would wire five figures on.
6
Ally Online Savings logo

Ally Online Savings

4.7App Store(111,401)4.0G2(2)

People who want buckets, an app they will open, and a rate that will not expire.

+3.00% APY, $0 / $0, no catch on file.
+The digital bank attached to the rate is the reason to pick it, not the 3.00%.
+Easy to automate. Easy to leave alone.
3.00% is the floor of this list.
Marcus at 3.40% is the same cleanliness with more yield if you do not need Ally's tools.
7
American Express High Yield Savings logo

Amex cardholders who want one login and will not chase 40 basis points.

+3.00% APY with a $0 minimum and $0 monthly fee.
+No catch on file.
+Customer service you have already rehearsed on the card side.
Tied with Ally and Capital One at 3.00%.
No cash deposits.

People who walk into a cafe or branch with cash and still want a $0 / $0 HYSA.

+3.00% APY, $0 to open, $0 monthly fee, no catch on file.
+Cash deposits exist. That is rare in this category and unique among these eight picks.
+Pairs with Capital One 360 Checking if you already have it.
3.00% is the floor. You are buying access, not yield.
If you never deposit cash, Marcus at 3.40% is the better account.

What 'no fee, no minimum' actually means here

Three checks, all of them literal. Monthly fee is $0. Minimum deposit is $0. The APY we quote does not require a balance floor. Fail any one of those and the account is in the main HYSA guide, not here.

That is a stricter cut than "no monthly fee." CIT Bank Platinum Savings has a $0 fee and a $100 minimum to open. It failed twice: the open minimum is not $0, and the 3.75% needs $5,000. We did not bend the rule and then disclose. We left it off. Forbright Growth Savings used to fail on a $1,000 floor attached to a 4.15% promo. That promo is gone; the live page is 3.85% with no minimums, so Forbright is in.

LendingClub LevelUp Savings is the one people will argue about. It is $0 to open and $0 a month. The 4.00% is not a balance floor, it is a deposit habit. We still left it off, because a rate you lose by skipping a transfer is not a no-strings rate. If you want that product, it is in the flagship guide.

Two accounts that did make the cut need a warning in the same breath as the APY. Pibank Savings is $0 / $0 at 4.10% on the official page body; the HTML title still says 4.40%. EverBank Performance Savings is $0 / $0 at 3.90%, and the advertised APY may be new-accounts only. They are here because they pass the fee and minimum tests. They are not here because they are as calm as Marcus Online Savings.

Why the free filter is the one most people should use

A $5 monthly fee on a $4,000 balance is 1.50 points of APY. That is how Robinhood Gold Cash Sweep (3.35% plus $5 plus a Gold subscription) loses to Marcus Online Savings at 3.40% with nothing attached. A $5,000 minimum you cannot meet turns CIT's 3.75% into 0.25%.

The catalog average of about 3.56% includes all 21 names, catches and fees mixed in. The accounts on this page are the ones where the number on the statement should match the number on the chart, as long as you are not an EverBank existing customer walking into a new-account teaser, and as long as you read Pibank's disclosure and not its tab title.

I would rather someone open Ally Online Savings at 3.00% and keep the money there than open CIT Bank Platinum Savings with $800 and earn 0.25% while telling their sister they "got a 4% account." The free filter exists to prevent that conversation.

Key Features to Look For

Zero monthly feeEssential

Hard requirement. Robinhood Gold Cash Sweep ($5, Gold required) and Vio Bank Cornerstone Money Market ($5) are out. A fee is a negative APY in disguise.

Zero dollars to openEssential

Hard requirement. CIT ($100), Openbank ($500), Poppy and Forbright's rate floor ($1,000), BrioDirect ($5,000), Betterment ($10), and Wealthfront ($1) fail it.

No balance floor on the quoted APYEssential

Hard requirement. CIT's 3.75% at $5,000 (0.25% under that) is why that name is missing. Forbright no longer fails this test.

No deposit habit on the quoted APYEssential

LendingClub LevelUp Savings is $0 / $0 and still out, because 4.00% needs a $250 deposit that month.

A rate we can stand behind

Pibank Savings passes the fee and minimum tests. We still flag the 4.10% versus 4.40% title conflict. Verify it yourself.

Whether 'new accounts' means you

EverBank Performance Savings at 3.90% may be new-accounts only. If you already bank there, ask what your account pays.

Cash deposits and daily-driver features

Capital One 360 Performance Savings is the 3.00% account that takes cash. Ally Online Savings is the 3.00% account with buckets. Neither wins on yield.

How to use this list

If you want the highest clean number that survives the filter, look at Zynlo Money Market at 3.90%, then Marcus Online Savings at 3.40%.

If you want the name you already know, Marcus Online Savings, Ally Online Savings, or American Express High Yield Savings are the three I would actually leave open for a year.

If you are willing to verify a messy rate the day you apply, Pibank Savings at 4.10% is the top print in this filter. We will not rank it first until the 4.40% title conflict is gone.

If you already have an EverBank account, do not assume EverBank Performance Savings at 3.90% is your rate.

If you need cash deposits, Capital One 360 Performance Savings at 3.00% is the pick. The higher-yield names on this page will not do that job.

Evaluation Checklist

Confirm monthly fee is $0 on the bank's page, not just in a chart. Robinhood and Vio fail this at $5.

Confirm the minimum to open is $0. CIT ($100), Openbank ($500), and BrioDirect ($5,000) fail it.

Confirm the advertised APY does not need a balance floor. CIT needs $5,000 for 3.75%.

Confirm there is no monthly deposit habit. LendingClub's 4.00% needs $250 deposited that month.

If you are looking at Pibank, read the live APY on their site. We carry 4.10%; the title has shown 4.40%.

If you are looking at EverBank, ask whether 3.90% is for new accounts only.

If you deposit cash, you are shopping Capital One 360 at 3.00%, not the 3.90% names.

Mistakes to Avoid

  • ×

Picking CIT from a 4% chart and calling it a no-minimum account. It still needs $5,000 for 3.75%.

  • ×

Paying for Robinhood Gold to earn 3.35% when Marcus pays 3.40% with no fee.

  • ×

Opening LendingClub for the 4.00% print and then earning 3.00% because the $250 transfer never got set up.

  • ×

Assuming EverBank's 3.90% applies to the account you already have.

  • ×

Wiring money to Pibank off a screenshot that says 4.40%.

  • ×

Choosing Ally or Amex at 3.00% when you have no use for the brand and Marcus at 3.40% was sitting right there.

Expert Tips

  • Default to Marcus Online Savings at 3.40% unless you have a reason to deviate. That is the point of a filter like this.

  • Take Zynlo Money Market at 3.90% if you will complete the application and you do not need a brand you already call.

  • Take Capital One 360 Performance Savings only for cash deposits. Otherwise you are donating 40 basis points to a cafe.

  • When you want the 4% names with their catches left in, go back to the flagship guide.

  • Re-check the HYSA statistics when rates move. This page is a filter, not a forever rate lock.

Red Flags to Watch For

  • !

This is not financial advice. A $0 minimum to open is not a $0 minimum to earn the rate. Forbright and CIT both use that trick.

  • !

A $5 monthly fee is not 'basically free.' On $3,000, $60 a year is 2 points of APY. Robinhood Gold Cash Sweep and Vio Bank both charge $5.

  • !

LendingClub LevelUp Savings will show up in other 'no minimum' roundups at 4.00%. It is 4.00% only in months you deposit $250. We left it off this page for that reason.

  • !

A site title that disagrees with the rate table (Pibank) means you do not have a verified APY yet.

  • !

New-account APYs that existing customers do not get are teasers. EverBank may be in that bucket.

  • !

If someone tells you Forbright is still a 4.15% account, they are reading a July page. The live print is 3.85% with no minimums.

The Bottom Line

A no-fee, no-minimum HYSA in this catalog is rarer than a 4% headline. Of 21 published accounts averaging about 3.56% APY, this page keeps the ones that charge $0, open at $0, and do not put a balance floor on the rate we quote. Pibank Savings at 4.10% is the yield pick. Forbright Growth Savings at 3.85% is the highest clean conventional-bank print. Marcus Online Savings at 3.40% is the calm default. Zynlo Money Market and EverBank Performance Savings sit at 3.90%. Ally Online Savings, American Express High Yield Savings, and Capital One 360 Performance Savings hold the 3.00% floor; Capital One is the cash-deposit pick. CIT, LendingClub, Robinhood, and Vio stay in the catch report, not here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which high-yield savings accounts have no monthly fee and no minimum deposit?

After the September 7, 2026 check, the published HYSA that combine a $0 monthly fee, a $0 minimum deposit, and no balance floor on the quoted APY include Pibank Savings (4.10%), Forbright Growth Savings (3.85%), Zynlo Money Market (3.90%), EverBank Performance Savings (3.90%, may be new-accounts only), Marcus Online Savings (3.40%), Ally Online Savings (3.00%), American Express High Yield Savings (3.00%), and Capital One 360 Performance Savings (3.00%). CIT, BrioDirect, LendingClub, Robinhood, and Vio do not meet that test.

Why is Forbright Growth Savings on the no-minimum list now?

Forbright's Growth Savings page, accurate as of September 6, 2026, posts 3.85% APY with no fees and no minimum deposits. The 4.15% promo and the $1,000 floor that used to gate it are no longer on that page, so it now passes this filter.

Why isn't CIT Bank Platinum Savings included?

CIT Bank Platinum Savings has a $100 minimum deposit, so it fails the $0-to-open test. The 3.75% APY also needs a $5,000 balance; under $5,000 the account earns 0.25%. CITBOOST ended August 31, 2026. It is a flagship-guide account, not a no-fee no-minimum pick.

Does LendingClub LevelUp Savings count as no-minimum?

It opens at $0 and charges $0 a month, but the 4.00% APY only applies in months you deposit at least $250. Other months pay 3.00%. We treat that habit as a catch and left it off this page. It is still in the main high-yield savings guide.

What is the best no-fee HYSA if I want the simplest account?

Marcus Online Savings pays 3.40% APY with a $0 minimum deposit, a $0 monthly fee, and no catch on file in the 2026-09-03 catalog. That is the highest clean big-brand rate in this filter. Ally Online Savings and American Express High Yield Savings pay 3.00% on the same terms if you already use those banks.

Is Pibank Savings a no-fee, no-minimum account?

Yes on fees and minimums: $0 to open, $0 monthly fee, and no balance floor in our notes. The issue is the rate. FinanceRadar carries Pibank Savings at 4.10% APY. The site title has shown 4.40%. Verify the live APY on Pibank's page the day you apply.
